The Royal Gunpowder Mills on the north edge of London make up the most important site for the history of explosives in Europe. Two kilometres of historic buildings and archaeological sites lie alongside watercourses and within a woodland Site of Special Scientific Interest parallel to the River Lea. Features and documented histories span the period from the Civil War to the Cold War.
Working with Archaeology South-East we undertook a survey of all the major structures that are within the main part of the site, which is a scheduled monument.
